Giving & Receiving Love Adds Years To Your Life
Are there health benefits to being in love or being loved? Whether it's a father's love for his children, a husband for his wife, or love shard by family and friends, this amazingly powerful emotion is so strong that it can add years to someone's life or cause a lack of it to make someone shrivel up and die.
“One theory on why love is good for your health is that blood pressure responds to calmness and peace,” says Christopher Suhar, MD, a cardiologist and director of Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. “If you’re in love, you’re calmer and more at peace, which could translate into lower blood pressure.”
Love is a word that is so overused. We casually say things like, "I love pizza" or "I love shopping". So, unfortunately, it's watered down the real meaning. Is it any wonder that we've lost sight of the real meaning?
Interestingly enough, it doesn't seem to matter if it's romantic love or love of friends and family. They both improve your health and sense of wellbeing. So, is it worth pursuing with all of your energy?
Absolutely!!!
Studies have shown that people who live isolated lives without the benefit of loving relationships are at a greater risk of dying prematurely.
Deep, meaningful connections with others can actually protect you from disease and add productive years to your life. Investing in the people in your life will bring great joy to both you and those you care for.
Do you have relationships that need mending? Maybe, it's time to take the first step and begin rebuilding what's been broken.
