These are A Few Of My Favorite Things

I’m not a gadget girl, but there are a few kitchen items that are worth their weight in gold, and I use them on a regular basis. They each can be used in several ways, making them invaluable.

1. Mr. Coffee – coffee grinder

I don’t actually drink coffee, but it’s perfect for grinding flaxseeds, nuts, and some herbs. To get the most nutritional value, buy organic whole flaxseeds, and grind only as much as you’ll use in a few days. Refrigerate or freeze the rest. Sprinkle them generously in your smoothie, yogurt, granola, or on salads.

This is one of my absolute favorites because I use it practically every day. I put leftovers in the stainless steel container after dinner, refrigerate it, and take it to work in the morning. An hour before lunch, I plug it in. In no time I have a piping hot lunch.

My blender has a permanent place on my kitchen counter because I use it so often. I bought it several years ago since I was making smoothies every day. But, soon I was making my own salad dressings, sauces, soups, milk shakes, and more. I also grind rolled oats, quinoa, rice, and millet to make various kinds of flour. It was an investment, but it’s been worth every penny.

For years I only had a small hand mixer, but, OMG, this thing is amazing! I love being able to turn it on and walk away. It has a splatter guard to keep the contents in the mixer and not on the walls and counters. I make desserts, of course, but lately I’ve been making whipped body butters. With a hand mixer, it would take twice as long.

There’s nothing like Sunday brunch with hot, delicious waffles. I’ve tried several brands including some more expensive ones, but I was always disappointed. I like a golden brown waffle with just the right amount of crispness. This one is definitely a keeper. Unlike my other favorites, I only use it for one thing. However, you can slip the plates over to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

Have you ever burned the bottom of a kettle or pot when you were boiling water because you forgot about it? Not anymore!!! This stainless steel electric kettle heats water fast, automatically shuts off, and keeps the water hot.

I love using my pre-seasoned cast iron grill. It's perfect for grilling vegetables and meat. It goes right on top of two burners and heats evenly.

Flip it, and you can make pancakes, tortillas, and sandwiches. It's very sturdy and easy to clean.

I love running my diffuser every day especially during cold and flu season. I add water and my favorite essential oils that purify the air and kill airborne germs and particles.

In the morning I add oils that promote balance and energize your mood. At night, I add oils for relaxation and sleep. It's the perfect way to keep your home smelling clean and fresh without the use of candles, room fresheners, and other scented products that often contain harmful chemicals.

With concerns about the toxic chemicals in plastics, I've worked on replacing all of my old food containers with ones that are glass. I love this set because I can store my food, and then put it right in the freezer. They stack nicely, so they don't take up much room in the fridge.

When shopping for anything, think about quality first. Read reviews, and see what others have said about the product before you purchase it.

So, there you have it. These are a few of my favorite kitchen things. I’m trying to clear out the things that I don’t use regularly, but these guys aren’t going anywhere.

When you have the right tools and a little practice, cooking can be so much fun!!!
